Park Info
Dubbo is situated on the banks of the Macquarie River in the beautiful Macquarie Valley in NSW. A vibrant regional city, Dubbo is home to the famous Taronga Western Plains Zoo which is filled with animals from all over the world, including majestic lions, herds of zebra and towering giraffes. But there’s so much more to see in Dubbo as well as the zoo, so a holiday in the town is sure to be one filled with family fun and endless things to see and do.
Discovery Parks – Dubbo is a fantastic choice for accommodation when visiting the area. It boasts a huge range of cabins as well as fun Safari Tent accommodation and plenty of space for the caravan or the tent. The cabins are suitable for all budgets, ranging from the tidy and comfortable Standard cabins, with options for two, five and six people, through to the elegant Deluxe cabins for four or six, or the spacious Superior cabins. All cabins come complete with comfortable beds, a well-appointed kitchen and private bathrooms and well as reverse cycle air conditioning so you’ll be comfortable no matter the temperature.
If you want a unique experience, you can try one of the pre-erected Safari Tents. Looking like a tent on the outside, but feeling like a luxury hotel room on the inside, there are tents available for large family groups of up to 6 people, or, for that romantic getaway or couples retreat, opt for the cosy two-person Safari Tent with ensuite bathroom.
For visitors who have brought the caravan or the tent, there are plenty of powered and unpowered sites available, including some ensuite sites and a number of drive thorough sites so you don’t have to go to the trouble of backing the van. Once you’ve set up, all guests are free to use the facilities available onsite, which include a camp kitchen and family bathroom, as well as conference facilities for group meetings.
Naturally, the kids are well catered for. They can get their energy out on the bouncing pillow and onsite playground or play in the swimming pool and attached waterpark. There’s also a games room and a movie room for relaxing in while you prepare a meal or catch up on some washing in the laundry.
No visit to Dubbo would be complete without spending several days at the incredible Taronga Western Plains Zoo. The zoo is home to some 700 animals including the new Lion’s Pride Lands where you can get up close and personal with the king of cats. But Dubbo also boasts an amazing observatory where you can take a tour of the Milky Way, as well as a cultural centre, the Old Dubbo Gaol museum and plenty of cycle paths and walking trails so you can take in the history of the area.
After you’ve filled the day with activities, you can enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants and eateries in the town, or return to Discovery Parks – Dubbo to end the day with a drink and a bite to eat, while watching the Milky Way appear out of the darkness across the Western Plains sky. There couldn’t be a more perfect escape from the city and the stress of real life than a holiday break at Discovery Parks – Dubbo.
