Clare is an idyllic town nestled in the heart of the Clare Valley Wine Region, an easy hour and a half drive from Adelaide. Surrounded by rolling hills with endless vineyards, tranquil vistas and stunning sunsets, a holiday in Clare is guaranteed to be a memorable one.
Situated just outside of the town itself and surrounded by gum trees, Discovery Parks - Clare is an ideal location for a family holiday, a weekend getaway or a romantic escape.
Choose from one of the many cabins available onsite, all of which boast modern fittings, flat screen TVs and reverse cycle air conditioning to keep you cool in summer, and take the chill off of the gorgeous autumn and winter mornings. Whether you’ve arrived as a couple, or a family of up to 6 people, there will be a cabin to suit. There are even a number of pet-friendly cabins available so your furry family members can enjoy the holiday too.
For visitors with a caravan, there are a range of powered sites available. These include 22ft sites for extra large vans, and creek-side sites so you will fall asleep to the sound of water skipping over the rocks and the river birds nesting down for the night. There are also grassed powered sites especially for tents, as well as unpowered sites beneath the tall, shady gum trees that dot the entire park.
While staying at the Discovery Parks – Clare, you’ll enjoy a host of facilities on site. The kids will love playing on the waterpark and the playground. While they’re busy, you can cook up a meal in the camp kitchen, amply fitted out with everything you need to prepare a gourmet feast or relax by the heated swimming pool. There are also BBQs for all guests to use.
As Discovery Parks – Clare is right next to the famous Riesling Trail, a 35km bike path which was built along the old railway track, it is a great idea to bring bikes so you can explore the whole area at a comfortable pace. There is a bike station available at Discovery Parks – Clare so you know your bikes will be safe between adventures. If you haven’t brought a bike, you can hire one from the Park office and head out to explore.
The area in and around Clare is a haven for wine and food lovers, with abundant wineries, cellar doors and restaurants to discover. There is also plenty of history to enjoy in Clare and the surrounding towns, with museums, historical buildings and walks. Be sure to visit Mintaro and play a game of giant chess or see if you can find your way out of the maze, before sampling some of the local produce available in the shop. Or head a little further afield and visit the stunning Georgian Martindale Hall, or the historic mining township of Burra just an hour’s drive away.
There will be no end of delights to discover in the Clare Valley, and after a busy day out, whether on foot, by bicycle or in the car, you’ll be happy to return to your comfortable accommodation. Experience the beauty of the area and total relaxation at Discovery Parks - Clare, knowing that you’ll be able to come back again year after year.
