For a restful riverside getaway, Cobdogla Station Caravan Park is one of the SA Riverland’s hidden gems.
There’s nothing separating the park and the Murray River, located right beside Joyner Lagoon. The lagoon is a beautiful place for water activities, birdwatching, and seeing the sunrise, sunset, or stars reflected on the water’s surface. From fishing to kayaking, it’s easy to while away the days here.
When the heats hits, dive into the swimming pool, which has a toddler section for younger swimmers. There’s also a playground to amuse the little ones, and next door, you’ll find the town oval and tennis courts to keep active. More park facilities include a camp kitchen and coin-operated BBQs, boat ramp, book exchange, free Wi-Fi, guest laundry, amenities blocks, and day-use lawn areas to enjoy the riverside location.
Campers can book a large, shaded site on either grass or crusher dust. Spacious unpowered sites are available on lawn (partial shade) or gravel (no shade) surfaces. All sites are pet-friendly, and limited drive-through sites are subject to availability. As for self-contained accommodation, you can stay in an ensuite cabin (sleeps six guests) or non-ensuite cabin (sleeps four to six guests), both of which come with a kitchenette.
Affectionately dubbed ‘Cobby’ by the locals, Cobdogla is a great starting point to explore several Riverland towns. It takes six minutes to arrive in Barmera, 20 minutes to drive to Berri or Waikerie, 27 minutes to reach Renmark, and 30 minutes to hit Loxton. With so much to do within an hour’s radius of the park, you won’t be short of activities. Let the kids run wild on the towers of Monash Adventure Park. Grab a drink at the Overland Corner Hotel, Banrock Station, Twenty Third Street Distillery, or the Riverland Wine Centre in Lyrup. Browse local markets, like the Renmark Riverfront Markets or the Barmera Markets. Plus, less than ten minutes’ walk from the park, you’ll find the Cobdogla District Club (or Cobby Club) for a filling feed and satisfying beverage.
