Park Info

Scamander Sanctuary Holiday Park is the ultimate escape to the sandy beaches of the Tasmanian east coast.

The park has a generous selection of glamping tents, set on large timber decks that overlook the nature reserve, with the gentle crash of beach waves heard in the distance. From individually styled bell tents to deluxe safari tents, there is an option to suit your needs - whether that’s a TV, kitchenette, ensuite, or space for up to six people. Sit on your exclusive outdoor seating area warmed by a private fire pot, ideal for chilling out and observing nearby wildlife.

Powered and unpowered sites soak up the bushland setting (plus, they’re pet-friendly!) with room for camping vehicles both big and small. Sites are complemented by all the facilities you need, including a camp kitchen, playground, communal BBQs, coin-operated washing machines and dryers, clean amenities, and a dump point.

The park has direct access to Steels Beach. Where the Scamander River meets the beach, there are ample opportunities for fishing, walking along the sand, and surfing the waves. You might even spot the occasional dolphin or whale off the coast. Winifred Curtis Nature Reserve is next door, ready to welcome fans of walking, wildlife spotting, and birdwatching. Nearby activities also include golf, lawn bowls, charter fishing, and tennis. Don’t forget to try some of the local coffee shops and restaurants, like the Rivermouth Café.

Scamander Sanctuary Holiday Park is conveniently positioned in between the east coastal towns of Bicheno and the Bay of Fires. Bicheno is a go-to spot for bushwalkers, while beachgoers will find themselves obsessed with the picture-perfect beaches along the Bay of Fires. St Helens is the place for mountain biking (with bike hire available in-town), bream fishing, visiting Ferntree Falls, and four-wheel driving along Peron Dunes, as well as shopping for those who prefer retail to trails. Head a little further out, and you’ll reach one of Tasmania’s highest waterfalls, St Columba Falls.

Whether you’re packing your bathers or your puffer jacket, there’s never a bad time to visit Scamander Sanctuary Holiday Park.
