Echuca is a historic rural town situated on the banks of the Murray River in Victoria. Surrounded by majestic eucalyptus trees, and filled with historic buildings and plenty of rural charm, Echuca is just under 3 hours north of Melbourne making it the ideal location for a weekend getaway or family holiday.
Set up with families in mind, Discovery Parks – Echuca has much to do onsite that you’ll be hard pressed to drag the kids away to go and explore the town and the surrounding areas.
There is plenty of cabin accommodation onsite catering to all sizes of family or group, with plenty of options for couples and solo travellers as well. All cabins feature private bathrooms and well-appointed kitchens as well as bunks for the kids and plenty of space for sitting and dining. There are even a number of cabins housing up to 9 people in comfort, including the luxurious Spa cabins with a built-in spa bath, and the coveted riverfront cabins with gorgeous views out over the River Murray.
Caravans and tents are also very welcome at Discovery Parks – Echuca, with both grass and paved sites available as well as a number of ensuite sites on offer for added convenience.
Once you’ve settled into your accommodation, you can head out to enjoy all of the facilities available to guests. There is a bouncing pillow and playground for the kids to run around on, as well as putt-putt golf, a spacious games room, a tennis court, basketball court and even a fantastic BMX track, so make sure to pack the bikes. If they are keen to get wet, there is a huge indoor heated swimming pool to enjoy as well as a resort-style waterpark to play in. While the kids are busy, you can make use of the camp kitchen or BBQs to prepare a meal, or simply relax and soak up the riverside ambience which surrounds you.
When you do finally convince the kids to go exploring, you can visit the historic Port of Echuca area where you’ll be sure to catch one of the many events usually held there, or enjoy a walk along the historic wharf or a drink in the Star Hotel. You can also go for a cruise along the river in one of the many paddle steamers which are berthed in Echuca or even hire a houseboat for a day trip along the giant waterway. Echuca is also in the heart of the local wine region meaning there are plenty of opportunities for wine tasting and gourmet discoveries along the Echuca-Moama Food and Wine Trail.
After exploring the area, cruising along the river and taking in all of the history and scenery Echuca has to offer, everyone will be keen to return to Discovery Parks – Echuca in order to get back to the great onsite facilities, or simply to put your feet up with a drink and a meal, enjoying a moment of relaxation.
