Riverview Tourist Village in Katherine is a caravan park offering visitors excellent facilities while they explore this dynamic town and the rugged regions that surround it.

The famous hot springs are literally right on the doorstep of the Riverview Tourist Village, and the park offers a range of accommodation options for those travelling with and without a caravan. There’s cabins, motel units and plenty of powered and unpowered sites. There are three cabins to choose from — family ensuite, ensuite and standard. All are fully self-contained with air-conditioning, TV, and all linen supplied, and the standard cabins have access to bathroom amenities close-by. Motel units sleep three and feature air-conditioning, and a kitchenette with a microwave and coffee/tea making facilities.

The park is dog friendly and boasts a total of 111 powered sites and 25 unpowered sites, all of which are shady.

For those wanting to stay put and lay low, there’s plenty to keep you occupied. There’s a fabulous tropical pool, large camp kitchen, BBQs and outdoor dining, modern, clean amenities blocks, laundry, free parking and wifi throughout the park. And if cooking’s not high on your agenda, Barra CafĂ© is right next door. The park also has a kiosk and tour desk to book nearby attractions.

The hot springs, right next door are shady, spring-fed, and ideal for safe swimming, soaking weary bodies, sunbaking and picnics. The Katherine Low Level Nature Reserve is three minutes away and a great spot for fishing. Other places of interest worth checking out are Katherine Museum and the five local art galleries, including the Mimi Aboriginal Art and Craft Centre.

A ‘must-visit’ is of course Katherine Gorge in the Nitmiluk National Park. A photographer’s paradise, this eons-old pristine gorge can be explored by walking tracks, a leisurely paddle in a hired canoe or kayak, or with an organised boat tour. You can also get a birds-eye view from a scenic flight or helicopter ride.

If you’re travelling the NT, a visit to Katherine is a no-brainer. So too is a stay at the Riverview Tourist Village.
