Located on the Capricorn Coast in Queensland, Great Keppel Island Hideaway resort is a 30-minute ferry ride from Yeppoon. Once you arrive, you’ll feel the tension fall away as warm breezes and salty ocean air induce an instant tranquillity.
Great Keppel Island Hideaway accommodation is a back-to-basics, barefoot experience, offering an affordable cabin-style stay for between two and six people. Switch off your phone and enjoy a total digital detox experience with no Wi-Fi in your room and no TV.
Here, you’ll find cabins designed to cater to a range of holiday group sizes, be it small and large families, couples, and groups. Great Keppel Island Hideaway cabins lie amongst the island’s sub-tropical gardens. Each cabin features air-conditioning, an outside area with paving or decking, and cool breezes throughout most of the year.
Three beachfront cabins face onto Putney Beach overlooking beautiful Middle Island. Take a seat on your veranda and enjoy the sunset over the mainland with a cocktail or two.
Other cabin options available include the ensuite Garden Room cabins in a sub-tropical garden setting, Family Rooms with shared amenities, alfresco dining and camp kitchen.
There’s the two-storey A-Framed House set over two floors, and with your own BBQ area. Hideaway House is perfect for families, sleeping up to six people and with a private courtyard.
The onsite bistro and bar is fully-licensed for lunch and dinner throughout the day. It offers a magnificent vista overlooking the pure white sand and the crystal-clear waters of Keppel Bay. An uncomplicated menu reflects the relaxed atmosphere, and seating options include outdoor areas under shady trees or the cover of the 30-foot ‘wooden hut’.
Once you’ve settled into your Great Keppel Island accommodation, take time to explore the island paradise. The white sands of Great Keppel Island and the sparkling blue waters are perfect for all manner of aquatic activities and adventures. Think snorkelling and diving on one of the many reefs, kayaking, paddle boarding, water skiing, sailing, and even jet ski tours around the island. Or maybe it’s a relaxing swim with sea turtles and dolphins who are regular visitors to the island. Away from the island, there’s coral reef cruises and fishing charters available.
Not far from Great Keppel Island Hideaway, nature beckons with activities such as island bushwalking tracks, prolific birdlife, and whale watching in the winter months. There are 17 beaches to explore. Around the island, expect to run into a few of the natives, including brushtail possums, blue-tongue lizards, goannas and echidnas.
Of course, you could choose to be totally indulgent and simply soak up the Queensland sunshine on a nearby beach with a cool drink and a good book. At Great Keppel Island Hideaway, you can be as energetic or relaxed as you like.
