Discovery Parks - Mackay
Park features
With a range of holiday park accommodation options including self-contained cabins and roomy powered and unpowered sites, it’s easy to find a solution to suit your holiday needs. Cabin options sleep 2 to 6 people depending on configuration, so whether you’re arriving for a romantic weekend or with the whole family, there are options to suit. All are well-appointed and comfortable with kitchen facilities and ensuite bathroom.
Camping sites are available powered and unpowered, with space for tent, motorhome, camper trailer or caravan. There are spacious grassed ensuite sites available for those looking for a little extra comfort, and sites are dog friendly if you’re bringing your four-legged friend.
Discovery Parks – Mackay is packed with features and facilities to make your stay a memorable one. With two pools, water slide and splash park, it’s easy to cool off after a round of minigolf or little campers can make new friends on the playground and jumping pillow.
Close to public transport and only 2km from the CBD, it’s easy to head out to explore sites and attractions of Mackay. Take a guided walking tour of the CBD’s art deco heritage buildings, or stroll the Pioneer River walk with its charming cafes and public art. The Mackay Farmer’s Market is worth a visit for local produce – be sure to sample local sugar cane juice for a unique Queensland experience.
Further afield, head out to Slade Point lookout for sweeping views towards the iconic Great Barrier Reef or get lost in incredible nature at nearby Eungella National Park or Cape Hillsborough National Park. Pack your binoculars and camera and enjoy the scenery and wildlife. Eagle-eyed visitors might even spot the elusive platypus in Eungella’s secluded waterways. There’s no shortage of walking, hiking and biking trails around Mackay’s tropical hinterland, and water lovers will enjoy the gorgeous swimming, boating and fishing opportunities along the coast.
And of course, no visit to the southern Whitsundays would be complete without some island-hopping. Don’t miss Keswick Island’s incredible haven of marine life, sandy beaches and walking trails, just a stone’s throw from the mainland.
