Park Info
Lake Boondooma Caravan and Recreation Park , 20km north of Proston in South Burnett, Qld, is a peaceful tranquil setting perfect for the whole family to enjoy - including your dog!
The award-winning park is a mecca for anglers, nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts. It is built on a dam which forms a deep lake near the Boyne River and on the boundary of Boondooma and Proston. Around 200,000 fingerlings, including golden perch (yellow belly), silver perch and Australian bass, are released annually into the dam and it is known as one of the most consistent fishing spots in inland Australia. It’s also home to annual fishing competitions including the Yellowbelly and Australian Bass Fishing Competitions.
Lake Boondooma Caravan and Recreation Park has a raft of amenities, including a great camp kitchen, camp fires and on site BBQs – perfect for frying up your catch of the day. There’s a playground to keep younger guests amused as well as a tennis court, kiosk / store and accessible accommodation options. The park offers different styles of cabins for different configurations and budgets – some 2-bedroom cabins overlook Lake Boondooma and sleep up to 6 people. Other cabins accommodate up to 4 people and are located in close proximity to the boat ramp, kiosk, camp kitchen and water front. All are self-catering and self-contained.
The park also offers a Bunkhouse located around 3km north of the main camping area near the Dam Wall Lookout area. The Bunkhouse has 8 rooms and sleeps up to 32 people, with a separate dining room and full kitchen facilities.
Lake Boondooma camping sites range from beautiful unpowered bushland sites, through to powered sites, all of which are within close walking distance to onsite facilities and amenities.
There are two boat ramps and a pontoon, making fishing access easy. The kiosk / store sells hot food, ice creams, groceries, bait and tackle as well as wood and ice. Every Friday and Saturday is Pizza Night and the wood fired pizzas are legendary. Aside from the Lake Boondooma Caravan and Recreation Park, there are numerous picnic grounds for day trippers to enjoy – the friendly Tour Desk staff can provide inspiration.
