Tasman Holiday Parks - Rollingstone is a kid’s paradise with sandcastles, BMX track, basketball hoop and playground to keep the troops occupied while mum and dad relax with a walk along the beach or a sundowner by the pool. With miles of sandy beaches and a beach café-bar, pizza and live music on Saturday nights in high season, you’ll never want to leave.

The resort offers accommodation to suit all types of travellers, with dog-friendly sites separated from dog-free sites by the lake and beachfront.

Luxurious 2 and 3-bedroom spa villas overlook the ocean, with views from the windows and the deck. Well-appointed Ocean View cabins have comfortable beds, including bunks, lounges, dining and outdoor settings. All villas and cabins have kitchen facilities and linen.

Beachfront caravan and camping sites provide a grassy place to sit and watch the sunrise over the beach and some have ensuites.  Or you can park your rig under the palms overlooking the glassy lake.

There’s plenty to do in Townsville if you can tear yourself away from the park. The resort is close to waterfalls in the tropical hinterland and handy to a round of golf for those inclined. Townsville is a gateway to the spectacular Great Barrier Reef with its exotic tropical marine life and it’s a mecca for scuba divers who love to explore one of the world’s best wreck dives.

The Strand is a popular beachfront promenade where children play under tipping buckets, mini slides and spritzes. You can take a 20-minute ferry ride to Magnetic Island and ride horses along the sand or take the 90-minute Forts Walk to see intact World War II gun emplacements and a command post, as well as 360-degree ocean views.

Townsville boasts the viewing tunnel at the Reef HQ where you can see 150 species of marine animals without having to board a boat. There are turtle talks; shark feeding shows; and creature feature workshops, with hands-on animal encounters. Day trips with the Great Barrier Reef offer a range of experiences, including snorkelling and diving with sea turtles, stingrays, reef sharks and other marine animals and marvel at the teaming colourful life beneath the surface.

If land animals are more your speed, the Billabong Sanctuary offers up-close encounters with Australian land animals including koalas, wallabies and wombats. There a fishing tours, bird watching, whale watching, food and wine tours, seaplanes and more – and at the end of the day you can while away some relaxing hours in Townsville’s laid back bars, restaurants and cafes.
