Discovery Parks - Devonport
Park features
Devonport is the home to the famous Spirit of Tasmania ferry service which runs from mainland Australia across the Bass Strait to Tasmania. Despite its position as entryway into the stunning island state, Devonport retains its small-town warmth and relaxed pace of life making it an ideal location for a family holiday.
Discovery Parks – Devonport is one of the best places to start your Tasmanian holiday. Conveniently located right on the coast, the Discovery Parks – Devonport is filled with immaculately presented cabins, neat and spacious caravan sites and plenty of onsite facilities for the whole family to enjoy.
All of the cabins and cottages are pristine and modern and range in size from the Superior Cottage Sleeping 4 people, up to the 6-berth cottages and cabins which offer plenty of room for a busy group or family. Many of the cottages feature a cosy gas stove so you can escape the evening chill and put your feet up as the night draws in. There are also absolute ocean front cottages available, as well as accessible and dog friendly options so no member of the family needs to miss out. Or, if you’re after a little bit of luxury, ask after the spa cottages where you can really unwind with a luxurious soak in the spa bath.
For visitors with a caravan, the sites are neat, tidy and offer plenty of room to park the van and set up camp. There are even ensuite powered sites available for your convenience.
After you’ve set up camp or relaxed into your accommodation, you can send the kids out to explore the onsite facilities, including a bouncing pillow and playground as well as a movie room for rainy days. All guests are also welcome to use the well-appointed camp kitchen and BBQs to prepare a meal or head across to the kiosk located at the park office to pick up any last minute items or snacks.
Discovery Parks – Devonport is so conveniently located that if you don’t want to cook, you can head into the town to try out one of the many restaurants or cafes serving local produce. The area is famous for its delicious local fare which you can discover by visiting the nearby Cherry Shed, Berry Patch café or even heading out to the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm. There are also plenty of breweries, distilleries and cider makers to discover, making Devonport a haven for lovers of gourmet food and local drinks.
If gastronomic pursuits aren’t your thing, there are a number of museums and galleries to explore, in particular the fascinating Bass Strait Maritime Centre where you can learn about the history of this rough and dangerous stretch of water. Or take the family on a traditional steam train ride through the Don River Valley and find yourself being transported back in time on a stunning journey through dramatic local scenery.
