Queensland
Natural Wonders, Year-round sunshine
If New South Wales is the state that brings more people to see Australia for the first time, Queensland is the state that makes them want to stay.
A bit like South Australia in their laid-back attitude to life, the tropical climate here means that t-shirts, thongs and an Akubra hat are very much de rigueur.
Don’t let that assessment fool you though Queenslanders are a proud bunch, too and with so much natural beauty to play in, who can blame them. With an abundance of major attractions like the Great Barrier Reef, Whitsunday Islands and the world-famous Gold and Sunshine Coasts, Queensland is in a premier league wonderland of its own.
Head inland from its thousands of kilometres of world-class beaches and you’ll find towns that time has left alone. This includes cattle stations that are about half the size of France and access to rainforests where you can literally get lost for days.
Frontier country mixed with tropical paradise - there’s a little piece of Queensland in us all.
