Highlander Van Village
Park features
Immerse yourself in world-class rainforests, cool climate vineyards, and local galleries when you stay at Highlander Van Village.
Highlander Van Village is perched on the outskirts of Armidale, the New England High Country’s main township. Known for its historical architecture and divine autumn foliage, the town’s charming tree-lined streets extend into Highlander Van Village’s parkland setting.
Set up camp on one of their large, grassed drive through sites, located near camp kitchen. Cabins come in two- to five-berth arrangements with a full-size kitchen, dining setting, outdoor decking, private bathroom, TV, and reverse-cycle air conditioning. For a log-style cabin, choose a cottage with a spa bath and kitchenette for the classic alpine experience. A selection of lodges and ‘Ali’s Cottage’ cater for big groups and families with up to four bedrooms.
The park has a swimming pool with a shade sail, perfect for sunny days, and families can challenge one another to friendly matches of table tennis in the recreation room. An undercover BBQ and camp kitchen area makes mealtimes a breeze, while washing machines, dryers, and amenities blocks will keep you fresh and clean throughout your stay.
The township is five minutes’ drive away – or a short walk – with cafés, restaurants, supermarkets, and shops. Grabbing a breakfast treat from the Goldfish Bowl Bakery is a favourite way to start the day before strolling the leafy streets and admiring the local architecture, with a self-guided heritage walk available. On Sunday mornings, browse more than 50 stalls surrounded by live music at the Armidale Markets in the Mall, selling handmade crafts, homewares, plants, art, clothing, and food.
Out of town, the region’s scenery and produce only gets better and better, boasting waterfalls, gorges, and World Heritage-listed rainforests. Oxley Wild Rivers National Park is essential viewing, especially Wollomombi Falls, which is the highest waterfall in New South Wales. Cool climate wineries and a handful of distilleries are scattered across the countryside, and the towns of Guyra, Uralla, and Ebor make for great day trips.
