Australia’s oldest German town, Hahndorf, is the ideal location to base your stay in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills. Set among rolling hills and scenic bushland, and just 30 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, the award-winning Discovery Parks - Hahndorf provides a range of accommodation to suit every holidaymaker.
Offering modern and comfortable Adelaide Hills accommodation in the heart of Hahndorf, the park has options to suit couples, families and groups whether they are looking to camp or enjoy the comforts of home. Choose from camp sites for a caravan, motorhome or tent, or other accommodation from self-contained units to resort-style rooms.
For campers and caravanners, set up on a roomy grassed site (including some drive through options to suit big rigs). Beautifully laid out among terraced grounds, all offer power and water and some are dog friendly.
Self-contained units and cottages can sleep up to 8 people, depending on configuration, making them an ideal option for families and groups. All come with kitchen facilities, modern bathrooms, and plenty of room to spread out and relax. The Lakeview House sleeps up to 10 and is newly renovated with two bathrooms and lovely views over the park’s lake.
Resort rooms are adults-only accommodation with tea/coffee facilities, bar fridge and ensuite bathroom.

Other facilities in the park provide a complete holiday experience, including large and fully equipped camp kitchen, under cover outdoor dining space, BBQs and amenities (including accessible amenities for the mobility impaired. Couple this with the sparkling swimming pool, mini golf course and giant chess, there’s so much to enjoy without leaving the park.
If you’re heading out to explore, Hahndorf is a picturesque, leafy town. Take a stroll down the main street to enjoy galleries, shops, and fine food including traditional German fare, or take a drive out to discover other charming Hills villages and amazing local cellar doors.
You can’t miss the traditional German fare at the German Arms and Hahndorf Hotels, artisan cheese at Udder Delights and the kids will love strawberry picking at Beerenberg. Top off the day with a visit to the Hahndorf Farm Barn for baby animals, reptile house and pony rides.
The Adelaide Hills is a fantastic wine region with numerous cellar doors to explore, including Shaw and Smith and Bird in Hand. Beer lovers will enjoy local craft beer at the Prancing Pony Brewery and Lobethal Bierhaus, or traditional German steins at the hotels on the main street.
Take the freeway into Adelaide to explore the city, with fantastic shopping, gourmet food experiences and local attractions including the iconic Adelaide Oval to explore. Further afield, Adelaide’s local beaches all provide great swimming, beautiful sunset views and plenty of beachside charm.
