At the foot of the majestic Mt Buffalo in a stunning, leafy location, Discovery Parks – Mount Buffalo (formerly Porepunkah Bridge Holiday Park) sits on the banks of the tranquil Ovens River in Northeast Victoria. Filled with mature deciduous trees and loads of native birds, there is plenty of shade in Summer and beautiful colours in Autumn.
VICTORIA’s HIGH COUNTRY
Nestled in the Victoria’s High Country, this beautiful natural park provides all the modern amenities for a relaxing family holiday or romantic break for two. The Park is within walking distance to the historic Punka Pub, the Rail Trail Café and several Porepunkah eateries, and is only 6kms from the centre of the alpine-friendly town of Bright.
Blessed with all four seasons, there is something to do near the park all-year round. The surrounding mountains and foothills play host to activities such as mountain biking and road cycling, and the trails are perfect for hiking and running, with waterfalls, caves and lookouts to discover.
The Murray to Mountain Rail Trail starts in nearby Bright and is 100km’s worth of cycling and hiking path that is accessible to every member of the family. This trail takes in historic sites, boutique food and wine producers and the very best of Victoria’s High Country.
ALPINE RETREAT
Given its location in the heart of the Victorian Alps region, Discovery Parks – Mount Buffalo is the ideal location for a weekend snow getaway — whether it’s skiing or snowboarding at Mt Hotham and Falls Creek or tobogganing and family-friendly snow play on nearby Mt Buffalo.
A vibrant restaurant culture exists in this part of Victoria, including two local wineries close to Porepunkah and a delicious craft beer brewery - an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to dine out on local produce. This is further enhanced by the nearby town of Bright, which is known for its own local foodie scene and an eclectic arts and crafts industry.
Mt Buffalo National Park is a 15-minute drive from the park and is a playground for anyone with a love of the outdoors. Taking your family here guarantees a getaway in nature they won’t forget.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation in the park ranges from shaded camp sites with all the facilities your family could ask for, to deluxe cabins with private balconies large enough to sleep 6.
The 2-bedroom Riverview Cabins are a family favourite. Able to sleep 5 on one Queen and up to 3 single bunks, these come with a large balcony with outdoor setting that overlooks the river.
The Alpine Cabins sleep up to 6 and are perfectly located to the solar heated swimming pool, while the largest of the Buffalo Cabins has its own front yard, shared BBQ and rotunda.
All cabins come with modern bathrooms, reverse-cycle air conditioning and the convenience of a full kitchen or kitchenette with fridge.
Grassy Powered and Unpowered Sites are either close to the Ovens River or secluded in nature with access to all of the park's modern facilities.
FACILITIES
Facilities in the park include a popular children’s playground, solar heated swimming pool with amazing views of Mount Buffalo, a fully equipped camp kitchen with BBQ hot plates, a guest laundry service and two amenities' blocks.
