The Great South West Edge Drive will take you along the coastline through forests, deserts, pristine beaches, and vineyards all in around 10–12 days.
First Stop – Perth
Start off the road trip with a stay at Karrinyup Waters Resort, located not far from the CBD and just 4km from North Beach, which offers great bike and walk trails for you to enjoy! Ask any of the friendly staff at the tour desk for the best advice on what not to miss! Relax on one of the many great beaches, or visit the busy city with shopping, restaurants, cinemas, museums, and galleries—everything you need to kick start a ripper Aussie road trip!
Perth to Busselton – 2.5 hours
Next stop, Busselton. Just two and a half hours from Perth, come and stay at Discovery Parks - Busselton or Busselton Lazy Days Caravan Park for stop number two on this epic road trip! The famous Busselton Jetty is the longest in the southern hemisphere and is only 10 minutes away. Take a walk or train ride to the end of the jetty to the underwater observatory, where you can see an array of colourful coral and amazing marine life, or you can opt to snorkel or dive from the jetty for a closer look! Offering a range of accommodation, as well as pet friendly options, these parks have ample facilities and amenities to ensure both young and old are well and truly entertained.
Busselton to Walpole – 3 hours
Enjoy the easy route of the South Coast Highway whilst you follow both coastal and mountain views that are home to ample wildlife species. Nestled within the tranquil Walpole Nornalup National Park, just metres from the beach and only a short drive from the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk, Coalmine Beach Holiday Park is a nature lover’s paradise! With everything from boating and sailing, fishing, bush walking and scenic drives, the outdoor adventures are endless. You'll also find a great G'day Park at Walpole Rest Point Caravan Park, which is another awesome place to base yourself while you embark on your wilderness wanderings.
Walpole to Cheynes – 2 hours
Up next, Cheynes Beach is a quiet holiday escape only two hours from Walpole. Cheynes Beach Caravan Park is ideally located within walking distance to the beach; a protected cove, with aqua blue water, perfect for swimming, fishing, or setting up for a day of relaxation. With a boat ramp on-site, get out there to try and catch yourself some dinner. Don't worry if you’re unsuccessful—there is a restaurant in park which undoubtedly has the best fish and chips at Cheynes Beach. As far as caravan park facilities go ours has them well and truly covered!
Cheynes to Esperance – 4.5 hours
Home to untouched islands, white sand, and turquoise waters, Esperance is well worth a pit stop for a few days. Four and a half hours from Cheynes Beach, Esperance Bay Holiday Park and Esperance Pink Lake Tourist Park are great spots to relax and unwind while you take a break from the road. Located close to the town centre, spend an afternoon exploring the string of jaw dropping beaches including Blue Haven Beach and Twilight Cove, a popular hangout spot for Australia’s very own kangaroos. The town offers many guided tours, but we highly recommend a four-wheel drive tour; venture off the beaten track to find numerous hidden gems. Our undercover BBQ area is a great place to meet up at the end of the day with fellow travellers and discuss the beautiful Esperance area.
Albany to Margaret River – 4 hours
Margaret River is known for its craft breweries, boutiques, award-winning wineries, and surrounding beaches that are admired around the world. This region is the quintessential Western Australian holiday destination, so kick back and soak up the views and untouched natural beauty of these pristine pockets of coastal bliss. We have four parks based in Margaret River, which each offer their own fantastic facilities: Riverview Tourist Park, Gracetown Caravan Park, Discovery Parks - Margaret River, and Margaret River Tourist Park.
Margaret River to Mandurah – 2.5 hours
Just two and a half hours from Margaret River, Mandurah is a dream destination for those who love the feeling of being near the water. Mandurah is known for the Peel-Harvey Estuary, which is twice the size of Sydney Harbour and boasts an abundance of wildlife and picturesque beaches. With one of Australia’s healthiest populations of dolphins, be sure to keep an eye out to see these majestic creatures play right in front of your eyes. Cast a line and enjoy a day on the water fishing for blue swimmer crabs to cook up in camp kitchen that night. At Mandurah Caravan and Tourist Park, set up and relax under the shady trees and enjoy the peaceful bush surrounds. Once you’ve enjoyed the day’s activities, make sure you join us at our Happy Hour Bar, kick your feet up, and share your adventures with other guests. Alternately, stay at Mandurah Twin Waters Caravan Park for its swimming pool, playground, BBQ, pizza oven, and crab cooker!
Margaret River to Fremantle – 1 hour
After what could be called a trip of a lifetime we are now at your final destination: Fremantle Village Caravan Park. Located just 3km from the charming port city of Fremantle, take a break before heading back to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Stroll along the boardwalk and find yourself at Bathers Beach or take in the street buzz with buskers, street art, and trendy bars and cafés! Boasting comfortable accommodation and outstanding park facilities, this is the perfect way to end your road trip!
