At G’day Parks, we know a thing or two about seaside getaways, with a generous number of holiday parks near the beach waiting to be booked on the G’day Parks app or online.
Here’s a handful of ideas for your next sun-soaked holiday!
Halfway between Port Hedland and Broome, Eighty Mile Beach is a stunning stopover on your way to the Pilbara or Kimberley—or in its own right! Sure, it’s a big drive from Perth – almost 20 hours – but totally worth it for the unending stretch of coastline. Pristine white sand. Lapping blue waves. Fish to reel in. Shells to collect. It’s paradise on a platter. At Eighty Mile Beach Caravan Park, park your caravan beside the palm trees on a powered or unpowered camping site, or stay air conditioned in a cosy cabin with a fully equipped kitchen and private bathroom. The park has camp kitchen and BBQs, free Wi-Fi, a kiosk, and laundry facilities.
Hiding in plain sight on the Coral Coast, just a quarter of an hour out of Bundaberg, Bargara is characterised by its unique red volcanic soil and sub-tropical climate. Driving to the Mon Repos Turtle Centre takes less than 10 minutes, or you can tour and taste the classic Bundaberg Brewed Drinks at The Barrel. Most of all, Bargara Beach has a truly stunning shoreline. Stay and play right next to it at Discovery Parks - Bargara. Family-friendly features include a tennis court, playground, kiosk, and tour desk to book all your regional activities. For campers, there are powered (grass or slab) and unpowered sites available. The park also offers a wide range of accommodation, including accessible and dog-friendly options as well as large cabins sleeping up to six guests.
Bunbury hits the sweet spot for a weekend getaway, only a couple of hours away from the city, but far enough to swap the daily bustle with the ease of coastal living. Favourite local beaches include Koombana Beach, Mindalong Beach, and Back Beach. Animal lovers can visit the Dolphin Discovery Centre (which runs eco cruises all year round), pop into Bunbury Wildlife Park, or plan a day trip to the gourmet wonders of the Margaret River Wine Region. Bunbury Glade Caravan Park is just five minutes from the coast, tucked in beachside suburbia. Secure your powered or unpowered site, or enhance your getaway in a self-contained ensuite cabin with its own kitchen and verandah. When you’re not laying on the sand, play games in the activity room, hit the playground with the kids, or dive into the lagoon pool.
Follow the Princes Highway down the NSW South Coast, and just before you hit the border, turn into Wonboyn. This is where glorious, unspoilt beaches stretch on for kilometres. It's a magnificent location for cliffside walks, water activities, and spotting whales from May to December (or keep your eyes on the skies for brilliant birdlife). The stunning surfing spot at Greenglades Beach is a 15-minute drive from Wonboyn Cabins and Caravan Park, which sits on the doorstep of Wonboyn Lake. Boats, kayaks, and SUPs are available for hire, or guests can also take a dip in the pool. The park offers powered sites, on-site vans, and a wide variety of accommodation. The luxurious Lyrebird Residence has a private deck, large dining space, fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, and room for eight guests.
Wallaroo has a reputation for crystal-clear beaches, fishing hotspots, and water activities. Around this Yorke Peninsula town, enjoy cafés, restaurants, an adventure playground, museum, and historic jetty. Anglers could reel in King George whiting, snapper, squid, flathead, salmon, and mullet. Day trips to the Clare Valley's wineries and Riesling Trail are also on the cards. For direct access to Office Beach, Wallaroo Beachfront Tourist Park is the pet-friendly caravan park you need, where you can cook up your daily catch on the park’s BBQs and camp kitchen. Furry friends are welcome to stay on all sites and in select cabins. For the best view in the park, a Seahorse Cabin has a waterfront balcony, not to mention an exclusive ensuite, air conditioning, and full kitchen.
Let the good times roll at Jurien Bay. This seaside town has a large population of sea lions, who you’ll often spot playing by the water’s edge or sunning themselves on the rocks. Join a local tour, and you could end up snorkelling beside them! Anglers are spoilt for choice, with lots of opportunities for boat fishing and charters where they could return home with rock lobster, dhufish, or pink snapper. On land, Lesueur National Park is a mecca of spring wildflowers, wildlife species, and bushwalking trails, and you can’t miss the limestone pillars of The Pinnacles Desert. Stay at Jurien Bay Tourist Park, where you can level up your getaway with a premium powered camping site or superior holiday unit. Book experiences at the tour desk, jump on the colourful bouncing pillow, and keep connected with free Wi-Fi.
Swap Sydney's busy inner-city beaches for a laid-back holiday in Harrington. Go fishing, walk along the coastal path, or – with a permit in hand – 4WD drivers can ride along the coast for kilometres. Harrington Beach, Crowdy Head, or Harrington Lagoon are popular swimming spots, or see Australia’s flora and fauna on display at the award-winning Cattai Wetlands. Discovery Parks - Harrington Beach has both your accommodation and in-park entertainment sorted. Take your pick from their outstanding range of sites, cabins, and safari tents (families will love the space in a Deluxe Three-Bedroom Cabin). Then, conjure up some holiday magic thanks to a resort pool and waterpark, games room, playground, hire equipment, mini golf, bouncing pillow, and – of course – beach access. Plus, this seasonal pet-friendly holiday park has an off-leash dog park and dog wash to make your pooch’s stay just as enjoyable as yours.
Cowes is the gateway to Phillip Island, where you can enjoy cruises, koala spotting, and little penguin tours—need we say more? Well, the town also has sheltered beaches with golden sand and shallow rocks at low tide, perfect for soaking up those beach holiday vibes. Better yet, catch a ferry to the Mornington Peninsula to explore even more of the Victorian coastline. Anchor Belle Holiday Park has powered sites, ensuite sites, a range of cosy cabins, and a long list of in-park activities. Get a load of this: heated indoor pool, bouncing pillow, playground, arcade room, kiosk, recreation room, multi-use ball court, and BBQ areas. For a luxury holiday house, secure a three-bedroom townhouse unit, with a private bathroom and laundry, full kitchen, and outdoor setting on the balcony.
Esperance is home to the kind of white-sand beaches and turquoise waters that you see in Aussie tourism campaigns. That’s especially true of Lucky Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park, where you might spot a kangaroo hopping on the sand. Hellfire Bay and Wylie Bay are also must-see spots when visiting the national park. Closer to town, don't miss Twilight Beach and make sure you catch a ferry from the Taylor Street Jetty to Woody Island. Situated on the brink of town near the sand and shops, Esperance Bay Holiday Park has all the facilities you need – including BBQs, camp kitchen, and a playground for the little ones – for your stay in one of their powered sites or holiday units.
The serene Tin Can Bay is one of the few spots in Australia where you can hand-feed a dolphin. Waterways are everywhere you turn and the coastline of Great Sandy National Park is packed with beautiful beaches, especially the famous Rainbow Beach. Its colourful cliffs have more than 70 shades of red, brown, and yellow, not to mention the rolling blue waves just waiting for your favourite water activities. Get the most spectacular view from the Carlo Sand Blow or turn up the adventure to see the cliffs behind the wheel of a 4WD. Treat yourself to a stay in a deluxe cabin at Tin Can Bay Tourist Park, then keep the luxury going in their lagoon-style pool. There are powered, ensuite, and unpowered sites for campers. Book a ferry to K'gari at the tour desk, launch your fishing trip from the boat ramp, and cook your snags on the park BBQs.
The twin towns of Dongara and Port Denison are well worth the four-hour drive north of Perth. Fishing is the main item on the menu, with breathtaking beaches and offshore reefs full of whiting, tailor, mulloway, skippy, and dhufish. Step back in time at one of Australia’s last remaining drive-in movie theatres and get lost in a film from the comfort of your car seat. Nestled in between the two towns, bordered by the beach and the Irwin River, Seaspray Beach Holiday Park has everything from powered ensuite sites to ocean-view villas. The on-site Seaspray Beach Café is open for breakfast and lunch each day, and there’s a pool for diving into, camp kitchen for the ultimate cook-up, and seasonal campfires for classic holiday park fun.
Travel down Tasmania's East Coast for a scenic showcase. The Bay of Fires is a masterpiece of orange lichen-covered rocks, white-sand beaches, and ocean views. Further south, Bicheno boasts beautiful national parks, delicious seafood, whale-watching locations (May to December), and the famous Bicheno Blowhole. If you’ve always wanted to try glamping, give it a go at Scamander Sanctuary Holiday Park. They have a wide range of safari tents, featuring large outdoor decks surrounded by nature during the day and starry skies at night. You can even book a Deluxe Three-Bedroom Safari Tent with a Hot Tub. Campers can also set up on powered and unpowered sites, and all guests enjoy direct access to Steels Beach.
The Northern Territory’s not all about the Outback, and Dundee Beach is here to prove it. This sleepy coastal town has a big appetite for fishing. Barramundi season runs from March to May, but you can reel in something tasty all year round, whether you’re saltwater fishing on the coast or heading up the freshwater Finniss River. A day trip to Litchfield National Park isn’t out of the question, either! You’re guaranteed memorable sunsets, especially from the beachside bar at Dundee Beach Holiday Park. There are powered, unpowered, and ensuite sites to set up your tent or caravan, or you can check into a bungalow amongst the tropical gardens. Don’t worry, there’s a boat ramp for the anglers, seasonal campfires for anyone who’s been craving toasted marshmallows, and most importantly, a pool to cool off on hot days.
You might not have heard of Hopetoun before, but once you’ve visited, you’ll never forget it. This tiny town on Western Australia's South Coast is right next to the unspoilt wilderness of Fitzgerald River National Park. Swim in mind-blowingly beautiful beaches, canoe with dolphins, embark on rugged 4WD adventures, and relax amongst the scenery while waiting for the fishing line to tug. Best of all, take a break on the ocean’s doorstep at Hopetoun Beachside Caravan Park. Their powered and unpowered sites cater for vehicles of all shapes and sizes, from camper trailers to motorhomes, and there are cabins suitable for solo travellers, couples, families, and groups. It’s only a short walk to the local shopping strip, or have fun in park thanks to a recreation room, playgrounds, and a communal firepit.
The sky and sea are in abundance at Keppel Sands, located half an hour out of Rockhampton. This scenic and secluded town is perfect for a coastal escape. Anglers especially love Keppel Sands Caravan Park, with its beach access and boat ramp, ready for days of fishing and crabbing. This pet-friendly caravan park welcomes campers and caravanners from all over Australia to their powered and unpowered sites. The park has also added recreational facilities like a pool, pickleball court, and mini golf, along with handy features like a dog wash, camp kitchen, and BBQs.
If you want to see something truly spectacular on your next holiday, the pink lake at Hutt Lagoon fits the bill. The bright shade is caused by a type of algae called ‘Dunaliella Salina’, and looks simply incredible—especially when contrasted with a bright blue sky! You can see the lake by driving to a lookout point, joining a buggy tour, or even taking a scenic flight. Port Gregory also has incredible fishing opportunities, an addictive beach that will have you coming back day after day, and the charming Port Gregory Caravan Park. Their range of dog-friendly camping sites can suit everything from tents to 30ft vehicles (including drawbar), and there are lots of cabins to welcome travellers, whether you need a budget-friendly standard cabin or a roomy two-bedroom ensuite cabin. Make mealtime memories in camp kitchen, play air hockey in the activity room, and wander down the road to the local general store.
